Remembering Luciana Pestalozza, at Milano Musica Festival, La Scala

8 November 2012

A few days after the passing of Luciana Pestalozza, Milan does not want to forget a woman whose lifelong commitment to promoting and sustaining contemporary music has been almost unrivalled in Italy.

The course of celebration is starting tonight, with the most awaited event of Milano Musica, the authoritative festival courageously founded by Luciana itself in the early Nineties. Therefore, the premiere of Niccolò Castiglioni’s posthumously discovered Concerto per tre pianoforti e orchestra (1983) will be dedicated to her. Andrea Pestalozza is conducting laVerdi orchestra along with pianists Alfonso Alberti, Emanuela Piemonti and Carlotta Lusa. The concert at Milan’s largo Mahler concert hall will be repeated on Friday 9 November at 8pm and on Sunday 11 at 4.30pm.

Furthermore, on 27 November, at 6pm, another event dedicated to the lamented Luciana Abbado Pestalozza (she was sister of director Claudio Abbado and married the pianist Carlo Pestalozza) will be held at La Scala. There, at the “Arturo Toscanini” boxes foyer, we will listen not just to the words of remembrance of those who knew her, but also to the music she loved the most.
