Founded in 1978 in Milan, Amici della Scala Association is a non-profit organization which main purpose is to collaborate externally and independently with famed Teatro alla Scala Foundation, for promoting its high cultural values.

In over thirty years, under the constant presidency of  Mrs. Anna Crespi Morbio, Amici della Scala (“La Scala’s Friends“) have organized exhibitions, lectures and concerts. They have put into print hundreds of musical and non-musical publications. Along with museums, universities and cultural centres, they have promoted projects of cultural heritage conservation, contributing to the preservation of the massive archive of sketches and figurini of Teatro alla Scala.

In 1998, twenty years after their foundation, Amici della Scala received the culture award from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. In 2004, when La Scala finally reopened after a long period of restoration, the association arranged an international celebratory program of concerts and plays, which lasted two years, involving cultural institutions in countries all over the world.

Since 1983, our most famous public events have been the “Prima delle prime” series, namely a cascade of monthly lectures and concerts dedicated to those opera and balletti currently on stage at La Scala theatre.

As a cultural salon in Milan, Amici della Scala Association is an extraordinary environment for dialogue and intellectual enrichment, which in years has hosted directors, actors and dancers, set designers, plus hundreds of both Italian and international protagonists of literary, artistic and editorial scenes.
