5 June 2012
If you missed our “Prima delle prime” conference held on May 30, 2012 at La Scala’s boxes foyer, you can now listen to the audio recording of the lecture “Tragedia romantica con ricatto”, in which Italian music historian Antonio Rostagno spoke about Giuseppe Verdi’s Luisa Miller. For the audio content, see below on this page.
Key transition opera between the first and the second Verdian period, Luisa Miller (1849) has been presented in the “Prima delle prime” public talk on May 30, in a lecture entitled “Tragedia romantica con ricatto”. In an authoritative, intense speech Professor Antonio Rostagno drew an innovative picture of this mazziniana “turning point opera”, in which intrigue wins over love. For its awesome melodical strenght, Luisa Miller forecasts Verdi’s oncoming works, such as the Trilogy and Otello.
